P8R on top of a B18b. Hybrid?
Just like the title says.
97 P8R head (84 bore)
B18B block w/ B16 pistons
LS cams with full LS valvetrain
Stock valves (33in 28 exh.)
4-2-1 header
2 1/2 exhaust to a big tip
B18B head gasket
After messing around, I decided to try the P8R(B20) head on top of a B18B block with B16 pistons. I have looked around this site, and I got, "no, it won't work," or,"it will work, but it will suck ***."
So far, I have put on at least 100 miles on the car, and nothing seems wrong. No over heating issues, no oil burning, nothing. And it seems okay for what it is. Acceleration isn't bad, i would say on par with my old B20 set up. Now my question is, would this be a hybrid motor? I havent seen it done, unless I am wrong.

Re: P8R on top of a B18b. Hybrid?
Thats what I figured. Now I wonder, do I have a higher compression or lower than stock LS? I took it out today and kinda stomped on the freeway. I notice power(butt torque) low RPM, but as the RPM climbs, it kinda starts to fall on its face....I gotta swap out the tranny for a GSR. I like that combo, and would I need to get it tuned because I am running B18b cams? I read somwhere that the B18B cams has a higher lift than the regular P8R cams. Correct me if I am wrong.
