Default Fixing a broken wheel stud?

I have a broken wheel stud on the front of my car and I want to fix it. I already tried pulling it out the back but it didn't seem to be able to clear the back of the hub or something like that. Anyone know a way I could positively get it off without having to take off the spindle nut and hub? I heard cutting the dust shield a little would work. I want to know ways that will positively work. Please help. Thanks...

Also, I found this hubpuller...

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=44577

If I had that would I be able to just take off the spindle nut and pull it. Would I even have to?

Ive been stuck with 3 for around 2 months now. I think you have have to take it to a shop, and have them press the knucles out. Im just afraid they wont do it right, and i will have unbalanced spindles.

...i've done this in my back yard with handtools. The HARDEST part is getting the axle nut off. the rest is just muscling the hub from the knuckle.

I'll post explicit details tomorrow.

By hand tools you mean a puller, and a press to get it back in right ? There is nothing else that can "muscle" that thing out. Ive tried. This is almost as impossible as reinstalling a balljoint with a hammer.

Yes I can get my wheels off, the stud is now a broken little nub. I know if I really wanted it out I could just cut it with a dremel, but then I would still have a lot of trouble putting the new one in.

Perhaps. I need to go have my rim switched out so I'll ask them then. Only thing is do most shops have new spindle nuts? Because I know once you take it off your not supposed to put it back on so I don't want them reusing it and making my car unsafe.
