mounts blown or do i need to run tq mounts
ok a buddy wanted his gsr in his ek so i swapped it in and we started it and get in for a ride
when i drove it i popped the clutch and the engine hit the hood notice were running stock mounts from the old d16, well the engine hits the hood real hard leaves a good size dent.
the old engine ran good pulled fine nothing wrong but we were runing tq mounts the tq mounts were removed they were torn but the nuts broke off from the inside frame. so i cant really put new bolts on it so i just cut the bolts and took the mounts off. ive ran my cars without tq mounts sometimes and they were fine.
we then put it in gear and put a load on the enigne while braking from a stop and the engine lunged up like 2-4 inches high may have went higher if we actually gave more gas. is this normal without tq mounts.
should I run solid mounts because theirs no way im getting the new tq mounts on unless i do some welding or major fab. i know ive never ran tq mounts with solid ones so i know that will be fine but whats ur suggestions guys
sorry about the long paragraphs but even thouhg i swapped the dudes car in for free i feel like an ******* giving him the car like that, and beyond that he thinks i ****ed up the tq mouts or something which had nothing to do with anyhting. They were stil original ones so of course they werent coming off.

could be the bad design of the ek driver mount, thats where it streches the most when we apply gas and the engine lunges forward. we would be running tq mounts if we could
I am sure your old mounts are worn, it's common considering how old they are. To solve this problem for my car, i spent $285 on a premium set of billet Innovative mounts as a great upgraded replacement. Well worth the money imo
^^^^^ i had the same problem and i bought those same exact mounts over a year ago. the mounts are so strong i can stand on the valve cover and the engine doesnt move in fact THE CAR DOES thats real stiff mounts and im sure they will last 5x longer than stock oem mounts
just to clarify you guys are NOT running tq mounts right
because all my cars that had solid never had tq mounts.
might just tell him to dish out the dough on some hasports or innovative mounts for sure.

did you put the rear trans mount in? 2-4 inches of deflection seems like alot even without running torque mounts. my turbo d16 don't run torque mounts just the 3 regular mounts,(1 ds engine mount, 1 rear engine/tranny mount and 1 pass trans mount)
Yeah, the rear transmission mount. Did you put in all the bolts? My bolts broke off once, and the transmission broke another time. Causes the motor to hit the hood and the shifter to move. A cheap solution would be inserts.

+1 for inserts. A much cheaper alternative...but not as much BLING!!!
And FYI...Im running solid mounts with torque mounts, mostly cuz I like when the car rumbles the inside at stoplights!!!!
"i can stand on the valve cover and the engine doesnt move"- Mr. Daredevil huh? I have never got the urge to stand on my valve cover haha.

but yeah were obviously running the rear t bracket and mount, checked that alot
i dont think inserts will fix it though it just seems too excessive especially with the stage 3 clutch but it still shouldn't hit the damn hood. we even had the hood open till it clicks ones not fully and it slammed that bitch like nothing. its fine if you just rev it but once you give it gas even at 40mph it violently hits the roof. im scared it will pop off the driver mount(seriously)
yeah man i was at the races and some dude was like oh he thinks those motor mounts would make him faster getting those billet 700hp mounts and i was like man your just hating because you cant afford to do this and have the correct parts to your swap so i got on the valve cover and everyone was dropping jaws saying whattttttttttttt that engine wont move for nothing and i told people i had to get those mounts because of the hood hitting and the engine would move still with STOCK NEW MOUNTS so i returned the new mounts from the local auto parts and i got me a billet innovative 85a red extreme mount kit with a b16 2 bolt head mount best 310 i ever spent on motor mounts!!!!!!!!! and to be honest my take off was increased since the car stopped doing the weird hop motion
and i kind of like the way my car is sitting and the car moves, makes it seem like a cheap wannabe muscle car.. i took my friend for a ride once and he was telling everyone burnys car shakes man idk whats wrong with it but it shakes and people would laugh and say thats because of those damn extreme motor mounts lol... anyways these mounts are heavier than stock mounts and i know for sure if i can stand on the engine and make the car move and the engine just move with the car and not move by itself innovative billet mounts are worth the money BECAUSE THEY WILL LAST YOU!!!!
The cheap alternative is Window Weld or some other polyurethane adhesive. Cheaper, but some claim they can pop out. Oh well.
Get Hasport, Innovative, or some other name brand mounts. A friend of mine bought cheap eBay mounts and had issues.
