Default pros and cons of crower springs and retainers

i am trying to figure out if i should use the crower springs and titanium retainers, and which valves to go with. I was talking to one of the guys over at ferrea and was explaining my build to the guy to figure out which valves to go with and when he asked what springs and retainers i had he was like be careful. Crower stuff and very tight tolerances and if you go over just the slighest bit i will float valves. So now i am not sure if i want to even keep these things i need so input on what other people are using in the gsr head. Also with this build i am not planning on going over like 9200

83mm sleeved block
JE pistons
eagle rods
crower springs and ti retainers
stock gsr cams for now
precision .70ar cold .63 hot
s300
a1000 pump -10 line
1600cc precision injectors
e85 fuel

On my last build I made in the 500whp range on 30lbs, and on gsr cams for 26,000 miles my crower springs/stock retainers/stock valves did fine...I revved it up to about 9500 daily.

With that being said I have ferrea in my new motor for peace of mind and because I make significantly more power/revs now.

When we had our old LS head on our motor, we were using Crower Springs/Retainers with Ferria Values and didn't have any problems. We were revving the motor to about 9k also.

You'll be fine, make sure they are installed at the correct seat pressure and you should not have problems. Tight tolerances is a good thing.

hey buddy, we were using crower springs and retainers with our itr cams taking it to 10, 200 rpm the last three previous years. we never had a problem, but when we had the head reworked by portflow, tom upgraded the valvetrain as well. this year we switched to everything supertech and you know how big the cams are this year.
