I believe the b16 "p30" pistons will give you the highest compression.

and putting some b16 piston is pretty stright foward like no problem valve hitting piston???

im looking to bump the compresson a smidge and have the motor last 100k+++

it looks like no matter what OEM pistons you go with you won't really have to worry about the valves hitting the pistons. Unless you mill the had and deck the block. What pistons you choose is really up to what compression you want to run. Also the type r pistons come with a coating on the pistons which creates less friction.

why exactly are you changing the pistons? you also realize if you use new rings you have to re hone the liners right?

as others have stated it's all about the compression you want.

oem ctr pistons will give you the highest compression, valves and camshafts might need replacement.

i have low compression in cylinder one did a leak down test and it the block motor still ran decent just a slight miss no knocking or ticking more then likely it the rings because of what happen but i just want to replace the piston for a little bit mor power i think im gonna go with the b16 piston's

what cylinder head? with a pr3 head the p30 pistons are great, getting kind of high for a gsr head without pulling timing in the map or finding at least 95 octane. anything over 11:5-1 starts getting really finicky in 100 degree weather unless you pull timing when you have the tune done. also, if you're going to buy new pistons and rings, you might as well spend the extra 100 bucks to have it bored to 81.50mm and get the oversize pistsons. it will make sure the cylinders are true and give 1-2hp from the displacement increase.

Take a look at these if you're looking to up the displacement a little while staying with an oem type cast piston. These are also coated in the same material as the type r pistons.

I like the JDM ITR piston, it has the same compression as the P30, but also the coat on the piston, then use a 2 layer head gasket if you wish to bump the compression even more, how ever, you might need higher octane when running high compression engine...California sells 91 OCT which sucks on high compression engines...just my .02

I'm running the JDM ITR pistons on pump gas just fine. But I haven't driven around on a really hot day yet either.
