Default play in shifter

So i been getting alot of play in my shifter and thought it was the bushings. Jacked it up and looks like theres play on the whole assembly i can move it back and forth from the bottom. Also that rubber ring or boot, not the bushing, is all ripped up. I have no idea whats this part called. Its the rubber boot that slides onto the shaft. Do they make stronger after market ones? cant find them anywhere. You guys think this calls for whole new junk yard assembly?

Try replacing bushings, and make sure all bolts are tight.
