Bigger (exhaust) is always better. Will the smaller size work, yes. As well, no.

 

At the very least go with a 2.5

2.5" minimum. Just to give you an idea. A customer of mine went from a 2.5" exhaust to a 3.0" exhaust. Below are the results. He's not going to have me retune it until he does the 3.0" downpipe, ramhorn exhaust manifold (currently has a log manifold) and ITR cams (currently has GSR cams)

put it like this go buy muffler you like and go to a exhaust shop to get custom pipping done

 

Go kteller piping you wont be disappointed. and 3 inch.

 

basically it boils down to a few things. the size isn't much in difference as someone mentioned, but these are measured in OD (outside diameter). So even the buddy club at 2.36 is OD, so your looking at closer to 2.25" ID. KTeller can offer a 2.5" OD to give you a slight edge and benefit and I would look at the bolt up kit, where its easier to install and just pop on and go.. email me and i can save you a good bit off our list price if your able to purchase mild steel. stainless wouldn't qualify for the discount.

 

mandrel solutions sells a 3 inch piping kit that just needs to be welded for 175

 

go with the 2.5 inch. Maybe even 3.

I highly doubt you would see a difference on the dyno between 2.38" and 2.5". Not a lot of difference there. If your current setup is quite and you like it, I would keep it. You can always run a cutout for big power.

 

why cant you just use a stock exhaust until youre boosted?
