Icon2 Wiring Guru's! Fog light Help

Okay Here's the deal, Awhile ago i bought 98' hatch with a 99'-00' front with the fogs already on. The guy i bought it from wired the fogs directly into the fuse box( The red wire coming from the bay harness) so my switch doesn't work. So i got a whole new set from Pwjdm. My question is, when i took the red wire out of the fuse box and connected it to the red wire from the switch, it melted the fuse in the engine bay fog harness by the relay. The brown 1 wire plug was connected to Acc #5 at the time. Whats going on?

Also i've searched and read through about 20 different threads and each one say's to plug the brown 1 wire plug in different spots. So which one is it?

Well, you plug it into a constant fuse of power fuse? Also, is it shoved under a fuse of is it plugged into one of the spots under them?

^ I'm sorry but i couldn't understand what you just said :/ Right now my fuse box has a red wire shoved into a 7.5 fuse thats for my parking lights. It works but its hella ghetto when i have a switch that could be used. Just need to figure out how to make it work!

Eh, shoving wires under fuses isn't that ghetto. I, personally plan on working my fog lights into my parking light system instead of using the damn separate switch. Perfection be damned.

Yea i guess i agree. It's not that ghetto but when you got (2) switches now and can't even use them, kinda makes me a little mad. How are your's wired up now? I mean i'm not a noob with wiring, i just don't like doing it nor do i like when it's not wired correctly. I wanna use my damn switch! Thanks though. Any more ideas?

I don't have them wire yet. But if you want it done right, I'm pretty sure there are ports under each fuse that you can plug a connector into. I think. You can also just run a wire directly to your positive terminal, if someone scrutinizes your engine it may not look the best, but it's one wire that runs to your terminal big whoop. Then just run your switch wiring and bam! You get your switch. But... they won't turn on automatically. You have to use the switch everytime, separate from your low beams and parking lights. That's cumbersome personally.

Pull all the previous guy's isht out - the moment things start melting (ie., FIRE HAZARD) - then I need to know that it's done right. If it's electrical, then that's gonna basically mean start at square one.

^This dude is also right. When something starts to melt, there is no salvage. Only re - doing.

Werd. Thanks for the input. It did melt the fuse holder in the engine bay when the brown plug was in Acc #5. So i moved it to 3 and it works but thats cause the previous owner ran a power from the battery and not the Right way from the switch. So any pics on how to go about the Right way of doing this? DeSchlong.... Chime in anytime

Ah, see the owner did what I said, but just obviously ****ed it up somewhere. I wouldn't have a melting issue

Buttering me up won't work

I will only suggest that you ditch the Password B.S. wiring and do it right -- wire it up like OEM. Attached is the wiring diagram for this. Read. Understand. Journey to a higher mental plane.

This reminds me that I need to wire up my fogs. I am going to wire them to my park lights in my EJ1.

Hmm, yeah my instructions didn't include learning Japanese. Don't know what's wrong (do you need to upgrade your Acrobat reader?). Will repost as a JPG.

throw the pwjdm crap in the trash. My friend had this kit in his 96 with 99 front end and he had it in his car and it shorted and melted the wires.

Hes now useing wireing for a 96-98 civic. I belive the brown plug goes into #4 on the fuse box, they should turn on with parking lights unless you have the switch off.

Quick little Update: I've been outside working on this crap and Wow. It was alot worse than i thought. I pulled the front bumber off to find that all the fog light clips have been cut off and connected with wire crimps! The ground wire has been cut and crimped, wire's Effin everywhere! I have come to the conclusion that if you can't do something Right, Don't do it! So now with both hands bleeding and the fog lights Working, (OEM working i might add) i'm happy now Did a mild wire tuck while i had everything apart also. So thanks to all who have helped out.
