HELP!!!: Camshaft position sensor (range/performance) CEL...???

I got a 98 prelude, non sh, took it to get my transmission repaired, then all of a sudden the vtec never engaged, so i checked my numerous CEL's, and this new one popped up: Camshaft position sensor (range/performance)...??? What the hell does that mean, how do i get my vtec back and running, what will it cost, or is there just maybe a fault in the wiring, where is it located, diagrams would be great!?

yep....the vtec doesnt engage, and as i accelerate to 5000rpm, needle slows drastically, and stops after it reaches around 6500rpm...
yeah the cyp sensor is in the dizzy, take off ur cap and rotor, and inner cap, look for loose screws excessive build up etc, i had a cyp cal go off and i found a loose screw magnatised to my sensor, now runs fine, remember to always reset ur computer and reprogram from a cold start let fully warm up, turn off, do it again. but u know all that

i have a 98 prelude base 129k miles threw code for cam sensor no signal..my vtec engages nicely, i need a vlave adjustment sometime soon. (when i get a chance) and my dizzy is clean inside of build up and everything is tight. i reset it just now and am waiting to see what happens. i am very mechanically inclined and can replace it if needed but ive never done it before. so maybe a link to a thread also showing how to if i even need to ?? why does my vtec workwith that cel? thanks for reading.

every once in a while it just randomly shuts off... i can just crank it and it starts back but its freaky. never takes more than 2 times to get it going again but i do it rooling so no one even notices, i really want to fix this. please help?
