Default revhard cast manifold & garrett turbo

Anyone running a revhard cast manifold with a t3/t4e garrett 4 bolt turbo? I am having problems with the fit bc its hitting the block...from what i can see its hitting the ID plate of the block...heres the block and how much was cut out thus far...still wont fit.

you will have major block clearance issues with a 4-bolt turbo, probably wont work at all. you will need to shave the block ALOT. you should switch to a 5-bolt turbo and even then it may require some trimming.

gotta flip the turbo and get new down pipe and remove AC componets

Pressure wash that engine bay too haha

would flipping the turbo work? and just buy a 4 bolt non-ac downpipe?
heres another problem

What you could do right is buy a manifold that is built right. your so-pose to build your manifold to work with your motor, not make your motor work with your manifold.

itll work with the RH. just a TON of block grinding. St00pid used to do it back in the day with cheesefrogs setup

precisions are 5-bolt, which fit much differently. the OP has a 4-bolt causing his problems

you have a few options
1. flip the turbo and get a new downpipe
2. get a 5-bolt turbo
3. try to track down an old inlinepro 4-bolt mani (they space the turbo out further and your current dp might still work with it)

either way it looks like you will need to modify the IC piping.

yeah the IC piping is another issue...i may have to buy a U off ebay or something rather than the one i have now....i think that would make up for the difference. the turbo is just about not touching the block... as long as i can get it to not touch i wont be concerned...that way it wont wear a hole anywhere...

I have a inlinepro 5 bolt DP i could use...so really all i would have to buy is a new 5 bolt exhaust housing for the turbo right?

not really. downpipes match your turbo and manifold combo.

whats wrong with the turbo placement right now? it looks like it fits okay now.

the compressor housing/block are about 1/16th of an inch apart...i can BARELY fit a piece of paper beteen them

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. You'll get it done eventually.

this should work too. i used a revhard manifold with inlinepro dp, fit perfect.

You would basically purchase a 5 bolt turbine housing that fits a stage III wheel, contitue to grind the block, and allow fitment. This has been done this way for years.

Or. Keep grinding, and have a downpipe made to fit that compressor.

I think you're making this more of an issue than it needs to be. Why spend all the money on new turbos or piping? Just buy a spacer to extend the manifold off the block. Here is my revhard manifold with a Garrett GT3076. This is the only pic i have but you can see the spacer. If you need more pics I can take them when I get home.

if its not even touching the block, i dont see the problem here? the motor and the turbo/manifold will all move together so that space will never increase/decrease. if it worries you, grind the block a bit for more clearance. its been done that way for many many many years now.

Have your tried clocking either of the housing? When i put a turbo kit on i loosen those up, put the kit on and then tighten them when i know everything will fit. Make sure you mock up the downpipe before you tighten them, lower ic piping, oil feed and drain, everything before you tighten, it will save you some time.

The kit should fit, especially with just a T04E housing. Those turbos arent that big.

there isnt a problem now...i have clearance...and yes i realize it has been done this way for years....but this was a lot of grinding to the point i was getting curious about going through the block and exposing the flywheel....

the housing isnt very big but the way the manifold is designed causes the clearance issues. 5-bolt turbo housings have a slighly different design giving better clearance.

OP, glad you got it to work. i would be nervous too having to grind that much off the block

On your intercooler piping, get a bandsaw & cut a section off of the pipe coming from the turbo. Just put another silicon section with clamps on it...call it a day!
