Need help to figure out what could have caused my speedo and tach to quit working after changeing out my wireing harness from a modified d series harness to a direct plug and play b16 harness in my 1998 cx hatch. Yhe gauge cluster was working perfectly before te switch and now all that works is the gas gauge and all the lights on the cluster. Any ideas of something I could have hooked up wrong or forgot to hook up and or other possible causes. Thank you in advance for any info you may have as I'm and not good with electrical and don't really know where I went wrong here.

 

any info would help ... where would the sensors that go to the tach and speedo be located in the engine bay on a 99-00 b16 ?

 

if i remember their is a plug on top of the tranny with a few wires off it. just look down and around and feel for a loose plug, it may take a while but u will find it. push it on nice and tight and see if that is the prob.

ok i have a new question, the 99-00 civic si harness has only 2 plugs that go to the ecu but there are three spots for plugs and it seems that one of the three in the 99-00 b16 ecu is for the cabin harness so my question is do i need to change out my cabin harness for my tach and speedo to work and also does the 2nd o2 sensor plug up to the engine harness or the cabin harness and any diagrams or pictures you might have would be awesome thank you.

 

Yes. The engine and cabin harnesses have to match.

EX and Si models had the secondary O2 wiring integrated into the cabin harness, CX/DX/LX models had the secondary O2 sensor integrated into the engine harness.

 

ok so if i change out the cabin harness in my 1998 civic cx with the cabin harness from a 99-00 civic si will everything plug up and work because i know the climate control is different in the newer models. thank you everyone for all your help as i know nothing about electrical work.

 

does anybody know if eberything will hook up on a 1998 cx hatch with a p2t and an si engine harness if i buy a si cabin harness ... please i need to know soon so i can buy the right part. thank you all very much for your help
