hf manifold...need help with turbo

Default hf manifold...need help with turbo

well i just swapped a d16y8 into a 97 ek hatch and its running good

i traded my b series flywheel for a for hf manifold i took it to work and cleaned it up .. i planning on running 5-7 lbs of boost but not sure what turbo to use.
im going to order a bmcrace.com hf adapter plate ... what turbo would be good and should i run external or internal waste gate ..

thanks guys iv been searching but cant seem to find a good one

You are limited to an internal WG unless you bore a hole into your manifold... LOL.

What is your budget for the turbo?

dont really have one lol i work at a welding shop with a plasma and linkin power mig

was looking at a Garrett Turbo T3 t04e .60trim with .63A/R

are you referring to a 60 trim compressor wheel with a .63 a/r turbine?? if so i think that is too big and normally doesnt come internally gated. maybe you are confusing a .60 a/r compressor with a 60 trim?

a better fit might be a straight t3 super 60 or a gt28r/rs/71r (any combo of that turbo really)

Figure out your power goals, figure out how soon you want the turbo to spool, and do some research on how to read turbo compressor maps. Find some maps of internally gated turbos. Then pick the one that fits closest to your needs. Also check out what other people are using for similar setups, and then check out the compressor maps for those turbos.
