Name That LSD
I just put an LSD i had laying around in an old YS1 cable Trans into a Hydro GSR trans. The problem is the VSS gear works for about 10 minutes then stops. Every time i pull the VSS out it is ground up and destroyed (see Pic below)
Im wondering if I need a special VSS gear for this LSD. I checked all the spacing and it goes in fine but I've had it apart 3 times and destroyed 4 VSS gears. So if anyone can help me out with what Brand LSD or why im having this problem it would be much appreciated. Thanks

wow is the speed ring gear seated nice and flat? Maybe you could try switching to the sensor with a metal gear on it. I've had no problems using the plastic one....and have had it on 2 or 3 different brands of Diffs.
Thanks MFactory. Thats kinda what i was thinking, but I really don't know much about LSD's
That being solved im guessing i don't need a special VSS gear or is the JDM VSS any diffrent? Or is their another reason the VSS gear is being destroyed. THe ring gear on the LSD is seated perfect and the spacing of the diff is set to what it was in the previous tranny.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Did you see if you have your clearance right when you install this lsd into the bellhousing of tranny? From looking at pics i could see lsd has been rubbing in bellhousing case internally.
I'd shim it and test it again with metal Vss. Good luck.......
I'm not a tranny expert, just stating my opinion from experiance.
