alarm help
i just bought a teggy and i tried to hook up a kill switch to it but i ended up doin it wrong. it wont start now. i changed the main relay, fuses, coil ignition, and ecu. still wont start. ima try changing the whole dizzy next but i was wondering since the car has an alarm it might have engine kill. i dont have the remote to it so is there a way i can just unplug the brain of the alarm and it will be all good?
remove all the wiring for the alarm and of course the alarm. they go out after a few years and keep the car from starting. there are teo wires i believe under the steering column that are usually the ones the alarm is spliced into. black wire and a white wire i believe. remove the alarm wiring and just connect the color wires with their other halfs again. i just use wire connectors. but connectors. the dark blue ones.

I firmly believe the cut and hacked main starting wires on my ignition harness for my alarm starter kill is what caused my ignition harness to fry and make my car die on the side of the road a few years ago. I replaced the ignition harness but never hooked the starter kill function back up.
IMHO it would be much better to connect alarm starter kill wires to something else like fuel pump relay wires or something with smaller gauge wire than the main ignition start wires.

same thing happened to me, the alarm disabled my starter and couldnt start, look for a button around the driver's side dash around the steering wheel or under(might be hidden for security reasons), after located hold down button and start.... should start fine

Almost all alarm starter kills are wired normally closed. So if the alarm is disarmed, the starter wire is connected just like stock. Simply remove the alarm fuse and you're fine.
If the starter kill relay goes bad, or if the wire connections are poor, this will prevent the starter from cranking or cause a weak crank.
In that case you cut the alarm wires from your black/white starter wire and reconnect the two halves of the wire. Soldering 10 gauge wire is difficult so you're better off using a 10 gauge crimp connector. I recommend a non-insulated butt connector and some heat shrink. But get some good crimpers. Most crimpers are junk. You can use Channel Lock 909. They're great crimpers and just barely up to the task of 10 gauge which you don't do very often.
