This is my problem: When I go to start my car, I turn the key to the start and engage the starter, the car will turn over but won't start until I release the key, however it only start maybe 1 out of 5 times. The weid thing is that once it starts it runs fine, idles good, revs good. But when i turn it off, and back on again it does the same thing. thanks for the reply.

 

What's the Year Make and Model?? Anyhow, sounds like and ignition switch to me. Try holding the key after started in the run position and wiggling it slightly back and forth. Do not turn it back to the start position though while the engine is running. If it acts weird when moving the key around, most likely you are dealing with a bad ignition switch. Good luck.
