Guys, Is it safe for the cylinder head of a B18c GSR engine if i use B16b(pct) type-R pistons?

I'm still going to use the B18c GSR stock cams, intake manifold, t-body, OEM head gasket and stock headers. And i'm using a re-chiped P08 ECU.

The only mods i have for this project are the AEM air filter intake system and fujitsubo free-muff exhaust with a 2.25 inlet and the main pipes are only 1.75 in inlet. I'm a little short on cash.

I'm using 97 Octane pump-gas.

 

I'd use B16A pistons if i were you

The B16B pistons have such a high dome on them, they never seem to get a complete burn, and often carbon up at the very lowest parts of the piston. the last two B16B engine i took apart did not impress me.

 

if i get a set b16A pistons for the B18c gsr, do i need to change the stock head gasket or just leave it alone? And do i need to mill or anything else?

 

You always put a new head gasket on any time you remove the head, even if it was installed for 5 mins

You shouldn't had to mod the engine at all

It would make sense to have some type of chipped computer so you could tune the engine to higher compression

 

So your saying if i get a b16A piston for the gsr i would'nt worry about a thing?

Lastly, how thick will be the new head-gasket? Is an OEM 3-Layer B-series gasket sufficient?

yup always change head gasket if taken off head... learn hard way
