OEM/Budget boost build: B18C GSR/ITR pistons in a B16A.. Hypereutectic/Coated vs Forged
Has anyone experimented with the use of OEM long-stroke pistons (b18c/b18c5) in the short-stroke motors (b16a/b17a/b16b)?
im pondering the use of a set of oversize stock rebuild USDM B18C5 pistons in a B16A... with ceramic coated faces and antifriction coated skits.. in stock, freshly machined/honed sleeves? about 10 psi max
wondering if this would have advantages in a daily driver application...given the expansion rate characteristics of the hypereutectic OEM pistons compared to the typical i'm-loud-and-grumpy-when-i'm-cold forged pistons... i.e. come winter time will daily driving with forged internals really make sense?....
EDIT: i dont mean to make this a thread (or flame war) talking about whether or not forged makes sense.. everyone knows it does... moreso wondering about the use of stock parts... im wondering if anyone has any some miles under their belt, using a nicely rebuilt B16A with lower compression OEM pistons

Lower compression typically means less chance of detonation, and more room for error on your tune..But honestly it seems like a waste of money to me.Just run it with the stock pistons, or man up and buy some forged pistons.
