Need Help Asap...Axle stuck in s4c B16 trans, OBX LSD
Hello, I need help asap because I'm a full time student in college and need a car. I have a s4c b16 trans from a 99 civic si with an OBX lsd installed. I was losing alot of tranny fluid and came to the conclusion that it was the passenger side axle seal. I tried to take the axle out but no luck so I took the driver side axle and midshaft out and try to use a punch to hit it through the other end...Again, no luck..
....I also tried crowbars, pry bars, a metal bar that I ended up bending...
Is there any pullers, spreaders, or ANYTHING that can help me get it out? Is there any reason its not coming out?

I assume you mean the driver's side axle is not coming out, right? I'm a little confused by the post. The driver's side has a center support bearing on it, and over time it gets really stuck in the bracket from rust. It could prevent you from removing the axle. Did you unbolt that bracket for the frame? After you remove it, you can hammer the bracket off the axle and reattach it to the car.
I edited the post, sorry
i succesfull took out the driver axle and midshaft out, including the bracket on the block, to try and hit the axle out through the other end and it didnt help. The passenger side axle is stuck in there and i have no idea how. Im working on jacks so do you think if i got the car on a lift/hoist it would help by giving me more leverage?

so your saying you have the car on jacks?? like as in no jackstands?? if you are you better not get under that car without some jackstands regardless of how well you know ur jacks or what brand they are!!!
second the problem you are having is that the ring on the inside probably really likes it in there, or whoever threw in the obx lsd did something wrong, thats probably why its throwing oil and might not even be the seal. if youve tried prying the axle with a prybar and bent it then you might have a serious problem.
where have u been trying to pry it from??

And the driver axle and the midshaft are completely off and in my garage..i have the ball joints and tie rod off so i have full access to the area around it but the only problem is that the end of the axle itself will not come out
another thing i think is important, there is about a 1/4inch of in and out play from the axle but it wont budge at all passed that point...thats very wierd if you ask me and makes me think that it has something to do with the lsd..
when you pull the axle in and out, does just the axle move?? or can you actually see the whole diff move??
also when you say 7-8 oclock u mean your prying on the firewall side of the axle right?? like away from the front? this doesnt really matter but if so i think its harder trying to fit things on that side. i actually pull axles off more like 5 aclock 4 aclock towards the front. actually my tool of choice that i like most to pry it off is the ball joint seperator haha i know its weird but it works for me. when i pull em out i push front on the tranny (well lean on the tranny for leverage) that way pressure is pushing the axle out?? do you know what i mean?? you can probably do it on the bottom to 6 oclock and if anything give the prybar or (balljoint seperator) and get a hammer and lightly tap it.

Yes more towards the firewall...can you give me a quick google image of the specific ball joint separator you are talking about? And i did A LOT of reading today and found out this is very common with the older obx lsds...
and the play is only from the axle...is it just the play from the axle clip supposedly?

ive never had this problem before but ive had similar things happen to a s4c tranny, diff broke messed everything up... but this shouldnt be the case in your situation, hopefully you can get that bastard out of there, heres a pic of the ball joint seperator,

like i said i use it.. dont know if anyone else uses it.. i like it because its thin on the tips so it'll go in easy, then just tap it in to spread it out a bit more then start to wiggle it around and all axles ive messed with have came out like that. if there stubborn then i start putting pressure on it like i said before. hope u can get that **** out of there, let me know what happens.

I had this problem with an OBX lsd...your losing that axle, just to tell ya now...hit it through the other side with a hammer, the lsd is going to reap the lip off of the tip of your axle. This is a common issue with OBX lsd's. Brute force will be your only option, I wouldn't even bother with the pickle fork.
when i did mine, the tranny was out, we put a short piece of pipein there and beat it with a BFH, it took a bit, and destroyed the axle
yea id suggest you take out the tranny if you cant take it out like that. then do what "Since 1983" said since he already went threw this.
