Blew my rings when boost controler failed!!!!
I had my turbo kot on for about a week when, then a couple of days ago my boost controller failed when I washed my engine. After washing it I took my car out for a spin and the ****** boosted 1.6 bar before I could even react to it. My car is smoking like a sun of a beatch. The clouds of smoke I leave behind me are ridiculous.
Is there anything i can do before I save enough money to buy new pistons and rods to make it not smoke *** much and burn *** much oil?
Do you think I can do anything with the boost controler company to replace anything or will they say it is my fault? I tried hooking it up again after everything would have dried up and it still doesn't work.

Don't know about your boost controller but sounds like the pistons and rings are gone. Only way to fix is to rebore and replace. You will use lots of oil and extra fuel until the motor is completely gone.

h22 u can not hone or bore. u have to resleeve. somthing about the plasma coated sleeves not iron or whatever civcs and tegs have. sleeves run about 250-600 depending on what u get. might as well get a loan and build that bastard... just my 2 cents. i guess u have h22 cause of your name.
If it's an H22, you'll be better of resleeving it.
And how did washing your car make the BC fail? Did you get water on the solenoid box or something?

Does it smoke whenever the car is running? pretty much at all times or just when you boost or sit at idle?
There is a very thin line between a blown compressor exhaust housing seal and blown piston rings.
PS If you have a warrantee on the boost controller then turn it in and tell "it just stopped working" but if you don't have a warrantee then your **** out of luck they will say its your fault which technically and realistically it is.

if there is scaring in the cylinder you must bore it. i would check the compression you might of just broken a ring land on one or two pistons you can just replace the pistons for now if you are that broke. this is just a bandaid!
umm...the best answer I could think of is....buy another b16 bottom end! Cheapest thing to do and just hope the head on the one you have now is good. Probably will be if you just blew the rings. B16's can be found relatively cheap down here in South Florida. Or just buy like a LS or GSR bottom and put the head on. **** I might even have one(let me know if you need just a bottom end)

Nick,
How much for a bottom and what kind?
My friend has a j-spec b16 sir-2 bottem at his house completely together still just no head. He said $300 for it.

If you can you might want to start tearing it down and inspect the damage. If there is nor scaring on the cylinder walls, then you might just wanna rehone the walls with the block in the car or use some light sand paper to scuff up the walls. Invest into a set of Eagle rods and Weisco pistons, and a set of rod bearings, naybe even main bearings too! Your pistons and rods should run you no more than $850.00 bucks.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Even if the cylinders look perfect, doesn't mean that they are. A few thousandth out of round and your new rings will never seal.
