phearable.net chipped ECU
I'd be more curious to hear what Phearable has to claim about it.
After having played with generic chipped ecus for a short time, I can tell you MOST of the time, without a TUNED map you're going to lose power. You may get lucky and pick up a couple HP here and there.
Money would be better spent on a used SAFC and some AFR tuning.
In short, leave your stock ECU alone unless you plan to use something tunable.

I dont know what to say about the phearable.net ECU. I ordered it, came in, i was so excited to try it out and was dissapointed. People tends to get mental gain but when i plugged in the ECU, I felt like i lost torque between 2k-5k. It seems like it has a problem with throttle response. Stepped on the gas all the way at 3k and it will take a while for it to start picking up. My car feels like a my friend's D15 but with more power. I wonder if John Vega will retune my ECU that i ordered to run my stock H23A1.

generally you cant just plug it in and go. thats not the purpose of a chipped ecu. the map should be tuned for your individual vehicle. that being said it is a much more powerful tool than a safc. but in your case you should just run a stock ecu for a stock engine. a chipped ecu/tuning is not needed until you are doing heavier mods (ex: cams, high comp pistons, turbo)
I guess you could say their basemaps are "safe" at best. I bought a Phearable ECU with a basemap for an H22 redtop. Fuel mixture was at stioc. and 12 to 1 at WOT. No driveability issues. But I was able to get 10 more HP with a dyno tune.
its a basemap with a purpose to get you from point A to point B until you get tuned. Those chips are not "tunes". They are guesses. This is one reason i refuse to give people maps who are not getting tuned by me.

With tuning:
Picked up 10whp(117---127)
Picked up 15mpg
its not really worth spending a couple of hundred dollars to dyno tune a stock H23A1 prelude bith I/H/E. Im not gonna spend that money just to get 5-10 WHP.
Youre not really spending the $$ on 10-15 hp. Thats just the outcome. The idea is dialing in the correct timing and air fuel ratio. Buying a blind chip, you have no idea whats going on with timing and AFR. Your engine may blow up due to excessive timing or not enough fuel. Although, Phearable does play it on the safe side. A dyno tune is well worth the peace of mind.
