No RPM tach once vtec engages
Hey guys, just saying whats up since this is my first post on Honda-Tech(troll).
Now to my issue at hand,
I have a 1997 gsr and when vtec actually engages at 5700k my rpm tach falls to zero but the car still runs and once I come out of vtec at 4400k rpm the tach comes back on. This is my 3rd GSR and I would say that it doesn't pull like my first two once its in vtec but this may be do to me taking easy since I have no tach. This happens in every gear WOT or regular driving. I have no idea what this could be and only found one thread in all my searches that pertained to my problem and it wasn't solved. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Mike.

In my trouble=-shooting I removed the vtec solenoid and cleaned the screen which wasn't really dirty, I swapped clusters to see if it was a cluster problem and My oil level was just changed and is at proper lever. I'm clueless.
I did this on my buddys GSR after he swaped an LS into it did that same thing at a certain RPM. Just find the RPM signal on the distributor(BLUE I think) and don't cut it just splice into it and run a wire all the way to the back of the cluster and splice into the rpm wire there too, this should fix your problem. I'm pretty sure its just an all Blue wire is the RPM's but make sure before hand....
