aem uego wideband o2 "input"
I just had my car tuned on 3-15-10 and was talking to my tuner about a wideband and he said that it's something worth getting just to be safe. So I have a friend who has a brand new aem uego for 120 bucks. I'm only interested in it for monitoring purposes only. Car is already tuned just want to keep an eye on the a/f for peace of mind.
I've searched and get a bunch of old threads but nothing relatively new. I see a bunch of them for sale and I'm wondering is it because they are garbage. Some seem to like it and some don't which is normal for anything really. All I want to know is this a decent wideband for what I want to do with it? Thanks in advance.

it seems to me that i see a lot of threads complaining that the sensor goes out really often and replacements arent cheap. i would grab a plx or innovative instead
Sensor is a bosch sensor and it's 71 shipped from ebay. Might be able to find them cheaper I just haven't looked around yet.

for wideband o2. the aem is a great unit. ive had two of them. first one i broke and was the old style which used up sensors. the newer ones dont seem to have that issue from what i can tell. I've been using my second aem wideband to tune customer vehicles for 3 years and just recently went to my second sensor and the original sensor has been in and out of about 30 cars.
Also leaded fuels will drastically shorten sensor life in any wideband so its hard to go off peoples feedback untill you know all the perameters

Ive got one and have no complaints. Works fine for me its tied into my Neptune RTP and no problems. So especially if all your using it for is to monitor you A/F then pick it up and throw it in. Just my .02 cents.....
I'm not sure what you mean by the 2nd part of your statement. Sensors go bad on these units so any replacement will work with your current gauge.

That's a good price for the sensor. I am considering getting the AEM multi-datastream gauge for my system, but I already have the 1gen ems.
[QUOTE=blaze the chemi;41917156]I was stating that if you want to monitor the sensor you'll need a gauge (or something to display what the sensor is doing). From what I was reading in your thread it seems like you didn't have a gauge or monitor for the sensor.
I never said that it doesn't come with a gauge. It's a new in box wideband o2 kit.
As for whoever mentioned running it in lamda. Thanks for the tip but the car is just street driven on 93. E85 isn't around my area yet.

Can someone tell me what the gauge will do if the sensor is bad/going bad? I hooked it all up today and it's acting funny. I get 1.11 2.22 3.33 and so on like when it's first powered on. Then once car is started it reads for a second and starts that all over again like it lost power. Sometimes it just stays off and jumps back on now and then. Could it be a harness issue?

I have one in my 95 GSR and I just replaced it when I got the car about a month and a half ago. What you are describing about the numbers is normal on start up, but if the display is going on and off then you probably have a harness issue like you said. Check your power and ground connections and go from there. Remember that you are basically hooking it up like a cd player, you have a 12v supply, a ground and a 12v swithed source so it is not on all the time.
it sounds like a harness issue. probably a bad connection at the gauge. my power wire fried and now i have a ba connection there and it does same thing
Power is supplied straight from the fuse box from an open spot with switched 12v source. Ground is clean metal 10mm bolt that's by the hood pop. I have my boost gauge grounded there and it has no issues. It sound like a harness issue. Since it's not even coming on I would say it's the power harness. It was $26.34 shipped from summit. I ordered it just now so I hope that's it. If not then the other harness is $21 shipped. I went ahead and ordered a sensor from ebay just so I have a spare for when I need it. Either way I have $147 in it with a new sensor and harness. I guess it was still a good deal.
