Default Got the new setup together and made it to the track!

Well back in november on the way back home from the track my motor dropped both exhaust valves in cylinder 1. Pieces went threw the turbo and trashed it. I didn't have the money to build the new sleeved block and get the turbo rebuilt yet. So i keep quite a few parts laying around and i decided to make use of them!

Pics of damage...

Old setup:

New setup! Everything built and tuned by me...

b18c block, 87.2 stroke
81.5mm 12:1 je pistons
eagle rods, 5/16 bolts
stock crank

Don Polk level 4 cnc b16 head/ hand finished by me.
supertech valves
skunk2 springs and retainers
ctr cams
jg victor x i/m, ported by me
bdl 74mm t/b
aem cai custom fit
old beat up dc 4-1 header, modified collector to 2.5"
3" straight pipe, turned down right after shift linkage
hondata s300

Mfactory Pro 4.7 final drive
liberty faceplated gsr 1st-4th gears
Quaife gsr diff
DSS stage 3.9s
Spec twin disk

23x7.5x15 m&h racemaster's that are 4 years old! lol and have at least 200 passes on them, mounted on old sentra wheels.
Lenso skinnies in the back. Didn't use my lenso fronts cause the 24.5s are to much for the power i'm making.

I went to the track for the first time last weekend. It is just a 1000ft track as that is all we have here in Arkansas. Motor was brand new and had about 120 miles on it when i got to the track. They were racing from 12 to 5 pm and i got there pretty late. About 2:30 and didn't get my first pass till about 4 due to how busy it was and some spills on the track. Only got three passes and here they are: First pass bogged extremely bad and went 11.01 @ 95, second pass bogged again, not as bad, went 10.78@97, and third pass still bogged and went 10.71@97.

Well i went back to the track again yesterday and things went better! Motor now has 400 miles on it. I got to the track late again, but it was only about 1:30. The track was nearly empty and no line all day! I got 7 passes in and car cooled down for about 30 minutes in between each one.

First pass of the day i went 10.60 @ 99 with a 1.93 60 ft, which bogged a little. Next two were 10.59@99 and 10.61@99. After those i raised the launch 500 rpms, so now it was at 8500. Next pass i went 10.49@99.48 with a 1.87 60ft. Ran two more which were 10.50@99.60 and 10.51@99.40. both with 1.87 60fts.

So i ran 1 more, which was a hot lap pass. I pulled right around after the 10.51 pass, raised the 2 step to 8700, cut a 1.83 60ft and went 10.44@99.23. I'm still not done tuning the car and working on the launch. I have launch my car on motor in more than 3 years so it was way different from boost or nitrous. I hope to get back to the track next weekend and improve some more. Here's some pictures of the setup. I don't have any of it in the car yet, but i will post those soon.

Here's the car!

I'm not sure how much power it's making... I'm guessing around 215whp. I plan on dynoing it in a couple weeks when i completely done tuning it. Car weighs 2250 without me in it. So 2410 with me...

If the track shows you the 1/8th mile time i'd post that. Everyone here can relate to a 1/8th time and see what your setup is doing better than the 1000ft times.

The head that dropped the valves had skunk2 valves and the same skunk2 springs and retainers that are in the new setup. It dropped the valves due to driver error. Lol I have no idea how i did it, but i did 1-2-1 shift. I shift at 10k so the motor instantly jumped to 11800 rpms. I'm guessing the valves couldn't get out of the quick enough before the piston came up at them. I guess it hit them just enough to weaken them. It didn't miss or anything after that so i thought everything was fine. On the way home i was doing a 3rd 4th gear pull and it let go at 9k in 4th. I think i was just to into watching my buddy's integra(sweetfwdthunder on here) pulling me so hard on the topend of the track! I just got out of the zone i guess! lol

The valves had been in that head for 2 years and were in my b16 head before that when i had a jrsc on my car like 4 years ago! I definetely got the use out of them. They were great valves, just failed due to driver error like i said...

And yeah Hot n Ready's FTW!

Yeah i meant to post my breakdowns on each slip, but i was in a hurry last night and forgot. I will do that later today. I know that on my 10.44 i ran a 8.14 1/8th mile!

Yup thats what i mean, the 60ft and 1/8th mile help a lot! 8.10 is pretty good! Right at a mid 12 1/4.

Yeah! haha and like i said, i didn't have the money to build my sleeved block... Or rebuild the turbo at the moment. All of these parts is stuff i had laying around. All i had to buy for this setup was the valves, piston rings, and pay for machine work, which is not very much for me anyways...

The turbo motor will hopefully be going back in mid year. It will be much more then it was with the old setup!!! I'm just trying to buy a house right now and now spending a bunch on my car. It's hard enough cause i have 3 that i race. lol
