Help with d16 build
Any info will be appreciated, if your gonna be an a hole, keep it to yourself.. Going to school full time and working full time, don't have much time to be doing hours of research, I've tried..
So I got a y7 motor with rod noise(neighbor told me, he's a mechanic) so I gotta take the block apart.. While in there I was thinking high compression pistons and a d17 crank would be fun to move around with, my question is how can I get that, if possible, to work in there??
I know it's not gonna be super fast, but it's probably gonna be the cheapest thing to have fun and build on my own.. I know I could go turbo, but requires atleast a grand.. I'm not looking to spend anything near that for this, pistons I could get cheap and crank from friends.. If there's any machining, that would probably be my only expense.. Labor I got down haha
thanks in advance again for any help

Keep in mind that going high compression will really need to be tuned which will cost you around $500 itself if your starting from scratch...
P28 ecu $100ish
Chip kit and install $50ish
Dyno time $200ish?
Tuner rate $???
wideband o2 sensor $???
On top of that, your gonna definately want to run a bigger cam to go with your high CR...I would see if you could find a D17 shortblock (01+ civic?), and spend the rest on the head and a tune. Unless your set on re-building this particular block.
