Axle stuck on half shaft.
So my clutch went out on my GSR/B18c swapped 96 hatch and I decided to replace the axles while it was apart. I installed the new axles and went for a drive and it is vibrating bad under acceleration. I figure it is the new axles and decide to swap them back out with the old ones. The problem is the drives side axle is stuck on the half shaft. I removed the whole thing (axle attached to the half shaft) and beat the crap out of it on a vise. The little clip inside will not let go. Any suggestions on getting the new axle off my half shaft? I was able to swap the pass. side and the vib is better but still there.

i had the same problem not even 2 weeks ago. once the halfshaft was out i took a big ****ing hammer and beat the **** out of it til it popped off. also use some wd-40, liquid wrench, pb blaster, etc on it. i was pissed but it worked. make sure to use some type of grease on the splines. good luck!

just so you know, what you are calling the axle......most ppl call the intermediate shaft. might help sometime if someone doesnt understand what you are referring to.
also had the same issue myself, just set the axle and half shaft on the floor, stood on the mounting brackets and beat the **** out the axle till it came out, 3lb sledge plus getting pissed worked for me
I beat the **** out of the axle! It will not seperate from the half shaft. I just ordered a new half shaft online and will put my old axle back on and see it the shake stops.

yea but hey i was thinking when i put it in i beat it too hard in and may have messd up the differential. is that possible?
I don't think beating it in was a great idea. I have never had to beat an axle to get it to seat right. I just slide it in with a little force with my hands, sometimes it takes a few tries but always works.

i just wanted to make sure it sat right.
now it vibrates on second gear under load if it was the differential shouldnt it vibrate in all gears tho?
