would overfilling my oil cause it to leak?
after a recent oil change, my car has started leaking oil. i noticed after the change that i had overfilled it a little....about 1/4" above the top hole on the dipstick. would this be what cause the leak? thanks
where is it leaking? and overfilling that much is horrible for your engine. drain it and put it between the two marks on the dipstick.
what motor is it? if it is B series VTEC 4.20 is reccomended and .20 is
about 1/4 over the top line. you can run up to 5qt them safely according
to my guy who is an ASC master tech in honda/acura. I run 4.2-4.5 and
I ten to take his advice. I havent seen any issues, remember VTEC needs
a healthy oil level.

#1 check to see if u are leaking at the oil filter (may need to be tightened more) or #2 check to see if you are leaking at the drain plug (may need a new plug gasket/washer). One extra quart will not necessarily cause an oil leak but not good for your motor either.
Good point Earl. Do not over fill your engine with oil.
If the oil level is high enough the crank will be whipping thru the oil and create bubbles in oil and bubbles don't lubricate well.
