Alright my brother was driving our 97 Honda Accord up the hill. He downshifted to 4th from 5th and the stupid thing jumped up to redline and started revving the **** out of the motor. My brother immediately turned off the car just incase it blows and checked to see if the throttle cable was stuck. After all that **** the car stumbled and the CEL came on. "I have not checked the code yet" but what other symptoms could have caused this? The car drives fine now with a CEL. Just need some ideas on what could have caused this. Any inputs are appreciated. Thanks

Im sure, the motor got stuck revving at redline. After turning the car off and back on again. the RPM jumped back up to redline and revved again. My expereince with a bad tps sensor was different from this scenario.

Jumped the ecu! It was the map sensor. I reset the battery and the CEL hasn't came back on since yesterday. Anybody have any idea what could have caused this? Again my expereince with Map sensors on my gsr has never been this crazy.
