wwhtd? (broken lca bolt)
so i was trying to remove my control arms tonight, and when i got to the passenger side lca, the inner bolt broke in the subframe
so i'm not sure of what to do here. theres about 2 threads showing, so i probably can get a vise grip on it. maybe drop the gas tank and heat up the end of the bolt? kinda time consuming though.

judging by the rust buildup on the bolt, it probably would have broke no matter what i did.

Gonna be difficult to get a drill up there. Judging by the pic, that's looking through the end of the subframe, so the only portion of the bolt left is the very end where it goes through the welded nut on the other side of the subframe, correct?
I would say douse it in PB Blaster and wait awhile, then try to go at it with vise grips.

Not really, from where thats at, its at a lower spot than I have had a drill up there before. I have drilled out the swaybar nuts before, and this sits way lower than that.
thanks for the links, but those are all outer bolts that snapped, which i would have no problem fixing with a torch. this one is inside the subframe in the rear, and the gas tank is right behind it. i'd rather not drill, cause i'll probably end up screwing the threads up.
gonna try the pb blaster first and pray it comes out. torch is probably the next option. ughhhhhhh.

Something similar happened to me last night, only I rounded the bolt off instead of twisted the head off. The weird thing is that the other bolts which are common to twist off came out fine for me.
I'd personally see about breaking the nut off the subframe. I've salvaged rear suspensions by this many times in the past from the subframe, shock, or trailing arm. No one scenario is entirely different than the others. It's a broken bolt in a nut. If you can't get a long drill bit through (which you can't) then break it off. It's just like if it was a shock or trailing arm.
