Default Help please!92Civic wont start after cap and rotor!

Okay i just got a 92 civic SI with a newer D15B engine.
it was running rough so i bought a new cap and rotor for it.

i install the cap and rotor and then start it up.
starts amazing, go to the end of my drive way and she stalls.

take off the new parts and try to put on the old, No start
Try new cap, old rotor. Old cap, new rotor.
Still nothing. try playing with the timing. Nothing!

it turns over, no start.

my car is currently and the edge of my driveway hanging onto a busy street.
its dark and cold and id really like to move my car.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Please and Thanks You!

Get back to basics first. Check for spark since that's the main thing you were working on. If you don't have spark use a multimeter to confirm if you have power coming to the distributor itself (should be a black/yellow wire on the connector with two wires going to the distributor). If you do have spark, check for fuel pressure on the fuel lines and/or check to see if the fuel pump is priming when you turn the key to the on position.

Same thing happened to me on TWO separate occasions, first time it was the ICM or ignition control module that failed, second time was the coil. Both parts can be purchased at an autozone/pepboys type retailer...

Good Luck!

tested with both the old parts and new.

somehow between the 2 seconds i drove it something failed.

The ICM is the module under the drivers side dash? or what or where is it? and why does it fail?

It's possible. I just went through the exact same thing on my CRV after I replaced the coil, only it died on the highway, 8 miles from my house when I went to test drive it. I ended up replacing the whole distributor.

As others said, check for spark first. If no spark, you can try replacing the coil... it's about $50 from an autozone type place.

I had my coil go out on me a few months ago its 68 bucks at oreileys but first u can go to autozone.com and find out how to check the coil and the icm with a multimeter but I would first check to see if you lost the spring connecting the coil to the cap some models had the spring stuck in the cap and others had it attatched to the coil and that is also a possibility
