Remote starter
as long as it can sense that the car is in neuatral and the parking brake is on it can be done. i can get you wire diagrams if you need them, im pretty sure i have the ones for a manual car.
yes it can, but you might have some trouble finding a shop to install it. i installed my alarm myself so i didn't have to worry about that lol. all you have to do is take the neutral safety switch wire and ground it so that the alarm thinks you're in park. then bypass the clutch switch so your car always thinks the clutch is being depressed. that's all you have to do.

Yeah a lot of shops won't do it because of the liability. My brother installs them so when he does side jobs he has to make the disclaimer that he accepts no responsibility for anything that happens because of it. He had one in his manual truck, and a porter at a dealership where he had it serviced left it in gear when he parked it, and when my brother picked it up he remote started it and the truck drove into the building. Another guy my brother works with let someone borrow his car and then when he got the keys back and started it, the car drove into a pond. So yes it absolutely can, but the clutch safety switch has to be bypassed to make it work and you have to decide if it's a risk you're willing to take.
It's an electric motor, they're ALL torque. On my old car if you had the car in gear, the starter would not only move the car, but the car could START while it was moving and then run under its own power (obviously at which point you stop cranking the starter). I know because I did it once on accident. I was in the car and the car was on the road so it wasn't a big deal, I was just like "whoa! hey! ok I guess that's one way to do it..." But still, kinda startling if you forgot the car was in gear and weren't expecting it.

eversince i started driveing manuel since 12 i have developed a habbit of always leaveing it in nutreal due to a extream *** beating i got for leaving it in 1st grandfather started the car and ran it thru the gerage lol this was a slammed 72 super beetle with a dual 2400 cc motor lol so it launched like a bitch lol
right right. well how bout that. i've had my remote start viper alarm installed on 2 cars now for a period of multiple years, and i've never had a problem. its just always been a habit to use the e-brake and leave it out of gear.
Congratulations, you're condescendingly perfect. Not everyone is as awesome as you. Some people eventually let other people drive their cars, which is where the problem can come in. I leave my car in neutral with the handbrake engaged too, and I don't even have a remote start.
I have one in my 97 hatch prior to getting out of the car while its running you have to set the e brake ,push a button on the remote , car must be in neutral (obviously),you then turn the key off remove it and exit the vehicle .Then after 10 seconds you shut the car off with the remote ,seems like alot but its not so bad once you get use to it .If any doors are opened or the alarm is tripped prior to remote starting it then the remote start function is canceled .I did however a month or so ago went to my tuner and saw a sweet red 94 intergra that was all bashed down the drivers side and another car that was black with nice red paint on it .I asked what happened they said one morning when the got to the shop they heard a loud noise in the shop only to find that the integra remote starter had malfunctioned and hit the other car damaging both and likely totaling the integra due to its age .What a shame the integra had just been repainted a few weeks prior and was immaculate other than the smashed up drivers side .Since seeing that my car gets put in neutral every night !

No I have to do that for the remote start to function it makes it fail safe i.e. if the e brake is not set (no remote start) if the car is not in neutral you cant exit the vehicle (obviously) why it has a 10 second delay to turn off I don't know. I was told that could be changed .Maybe a few extra steps but it makes it so i can not accidentally leave it in gear then try to remote start it later !
The newer models from DEI have built-in remote start function for manual cars.
Traditionally, people have bypassed neutral safety switch to get the remote start to work on manual cars, and we all know what happens if someone makes a mistake or the unit malfunctions.
In order to address that, what DEI has done is to offer remote start to manual cars, given that it gets confirmation that the car is left in neutral and noone has engaged it in a gear.
In order to confirm that, the user has to follow a few steps, so that the alarm knows it's in neutral.
Basically, you have to activate the remote start function while the car is running and exit the car and activate the alarm, with the car running. Then the alarm shuts off the car, remembering that the car was in neutral. (well, it must be in neutral in order for the engine to run while parked, right?)
Only then the alarm will remote start the car. If the alarm is disarmed or anything, the alarm can't confirm someone didn't put it in gear, so remote start function will be disabled.
It's a bit cumbersome, but I think it's a good safety measure.
As far as I know, Viper 5901 and Clifford Matrix 50.7x have this feature.
Matter of fact, I ordered a matrix 50.7X and waiting for the weather to warm up to install it.

well how bout that. seems pretty smart really. yea my 791xv definitely doesn't have that feature lol. i guess when i get an alarm for my new car i'll know what to expect anyway. i want that 5501 but i might just settle for the 5901. i really dont neeeedd the most expensive one available lol. that 5902 with the color screen is pretty nifty too.. why so many choices lol.
Yeah I have a two-way alarm with remote-start on my manual transmission Civic.
The car needs to know it's in neutral and the e-brake is up.
When I take my key out of the ignition, my car stays running until I exit the vehicle and close the door. Once the door is closed, it locks my doors and arms my vehicle.

I have a DEI alarm on my manual civic and love it. I have never had a problem but I have also never left my car in gear.
The only way the alarm can and will take precautions against starting in gear is if it is wired and programmed to do so.
