Neutral Wire???
Want to wire up a remote starter on my 93 EX (manual trans) and the installer said he wont do it unless my car has a neutral wire. He doesnt want to wire switches because he said they are too unreliable. Any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: Its a Viper 5900 Security and Remote Start

Well there is a lot more info. that would be helpful. What kind of remote starter are you putting in? Some remote starters have optional modules that can be added on for manual cars. DEI just came out with one not too long ago that can be wired into for Manual cars. Compustar has that built right in.
Now you can do it with a regular alarm remote starter/remote starter... A lot of shops will not do this cause they are liable for what leaves and this is a safety issue that could get them in HEAPS of trouble. Now I was an installer and I wouldn't ever put a remote starter on a customers car that was a manual. Too much in liabilities... I have done this in my own car and this is for reference ONLY. This is what I did...
Used a relay and bypassed my clutch for the car to remote start and had one of my Status wires feed that relay. I took my neutral safety wire and put that to my E-Brake wire (So the e-brake had to be set to R.S) Then I took some epoxy and some magnet switches and daisy chained that around the gear shifter. So if the switches were lined up in gear the car would not start. (Never had issues with this on my cars)... That is my .02 cents...
This is not something that I recommend for people to DO! But I hate a cold car in MN and I knew what I was doing and I am the only person that drives my car. It is IMPOSSIBLE for my car to start in gear. Now if you don't do anything like the switches around the shifter or use the correct Manual Module your car will SOMEDAY pull it's *** end and crash into a car, house, building, and GOD hope it never happens but a person and you are in some DEEP ****!!!

OK well you have a DEI alarm/r.starter... I would recommend this then! DEI 689M. Module made for manual transmissions.
Can buy one on line if your local shop doesn't stock or isn't capable of getting one...

sorry to bring this back from the dead but i had a question about the DEI 689M Neutral Safety Module. for us older cars 93 ex manual... the transmissions dont have a neutral indicator, so does the module have a motion sensor attached to it? so if the car starts to jerk (from being in gear) it'll automatically disable?
With the 689M gets wired into the car (ebrake, clutch, ignition and the alarm) and then after following THIS (it's the owners manual for the 689m) process it then allows for a safe remote start.
