Whats goin on,
i recently have had a 2010 civic with the automatic sohc i-vtec r18a1.
and i was wondering if I was able to throw a k20 head from si into it(along with i/h/e) since i cant do a tranny swap and i figured it would give me a little more power. can i have some more input??

in general, both of the motors have to be the same series (r to r, k to k, etc) for a head swap to be possible.

and its boosted

and there is also a Frankenstein motor out there like some dude jus said above me

read above dude, you can do that but you cant do it with b and d series motors
an h23 and f22 are the exact same motor like bolt holes for both mani's and obvioiusly the single and dual cams lol

but for this dude i dont think he can...but idk never messed with these 2

you must've missed the "in general" part of my post. why would anybody want an h23 head on a f22 block? the h23 head is non-vtec.

vtec aint **** when your boosted dude...
well for the h23 head my buddy jus chose not to have vtec and for the f22 block its iron sleeved stock, and can take up to 17lbs safely on a good tune

my friend boosted his car keep in mind a stock f22a1 sohc non vtec @ 17psi made 290 whp, with the hybrib motor he has now on the same psi hes gonna make 330whp+ jus with the h23 head when its all done with

and yes, vtec does make a difference. take a gsr and ls, throw on the same exact turbo kit with the same psi, and see which motor makes more power. here's a hint; it'll be the gsr, which has vtec.

 

ill let you know what he makes, he told me that...and oh well he has a h23 and f22 hybrid that makes good power and yeah gsr's and an ls's are totally diff dude, thats like an r18 and a k20

not quite; gsr and ls are both b-series, with the main difference being that the gsr has a vtec head, while the ls is non-vtec. r and k are completely different series of motors. quit talking outta your ***

i dont see whats your deal, jus because he doesnt have a head with vtec doesnt mean you come in and say all this stuff, he makes great power, would whoop the **** out of your car, but i was simply stating that my buddy has done this becuase previous post on here and to clear up confusion...he did it because he wanted to i dont fucin know dude wtf?

 

what did i say that offended you? i simply asked why your buddy would put an h23 head on a f22 block. the f22 is available with a sohc vtec head, or installing an h22 vtec head is also an option. you then responded by spewing a bunch of nonsense which didn't come close to answering my original question. if you don't know, then you could've simply said 'i don't know', and it'd be over.

 

and about the whole thing with the ls and gsr motors.
i meant like the ls is like a economical motor like the r18
grs is like the faster version of the car like the si with the k20 thats what i meant
i know there both b series

maybe i should of said like the rsx-s and base model same difference though

 

the ls and gsr motors are MUCH more similar to each other than the r18 and k20, it was a horrible comparison.
