Default Changing ecu change ignition timing?

Just need to verify if I changed out a p28 ecu to a p05 d15b8 cx ecu will my ignition timing need to be adjusted or changed again? The ignition timing has already been set on the d16z engine and I noticed when I put the stock ecu for the car back in (p05 d15b8) the ignition timing was way off? I distributor needed to be advanced almost all the way to be at 16btc? I am putting my stock ecu back into the car for smog reasons. Just need to verify if ignition timing should be affected by the change in ecu.

static timing does not change with the ECU, it's set by the distributor.
some slight variation is normal but that's a lot.

you are setting the timing with the Service Jumper in place correct?
without it the ECU will move the spark timing as it sees fit.
With the two different ECUs, you'll have different values in pretty much every table and every part of the maps.
