using lifting ramps on tegs
dont know if you guys ever saw those lil ramps so u can bring ur car up to change oil or wahtever else you wanna do under the car.. they sell them at autozone or .. i got mine at walmart for 15 bucks i hate using jacks so i figured this would be great. i get home take them outta teh box and try and fit them so i can drive my car up it .. but it looks like tegs are way to low for these things.. am i doing somthing wrong ? anyone use these ?
damn I thought you were asking about them (before I opened the thread) I was going to say DON'T get them... I bought a set of those steel ramps and it even came w/ the extensions and my front end would hit the ramp (my car is lowered 2") so I can't even use them... plus they suck anyway.. I can get my dads car on there (stock height 7series) but its easier to use a floor jack and jack stands because you can see everything.. w/ the ramps you have to try not to gas it too much and also gas it enough so the car doesn't roll back/down.. and its kind of hard to judge when its reached the top/flat spot...
in conclusion/summary.. those ramps suck
.. don't buy them.. a floor jack and jack stands is much better/easier and you can use it for more things (while on jack stands.. you can use the jack to help you lift up the LCA so you can get the shock/bolt in....

yeah I would return them and just buy a floor jack AND jack stands... IMO even tho it works on my dads car.. its easier to use a floor jack and jack stands.. even if the ramps worked.. you'd have to slip your clutch but not gas it too much (or your car would go up and over the ramp).. but not give it too little gas so that it stalls or starts sliding back/sliding down the ramp... either way.. floor jack and jack stands are easier IMO...
i've gotten my car up them ramps with a 1.75 drop. try using 2 by 4 blocks of wood, so that the front lifts up as it reaches the ramp. you might have to use lots of wood
but yes, car jacks are the best

yeah you could drive it up on wood.. but its still kind of a bitch IMO to try to drive it up on the ramp.. IMO its easier to just get a floor jack and jack it up using the front/off center jack point.. then use jack stands.. or for the rear use the tow hook as a jacking point...then support it w/ jack stands on the stock jacking points.....
the floor jack has more uses also because it will do the front (which the ramps does ONLY), you can use it to jack up 1 side (like to change a tire), you can use it to jack up the rear via the tow hook, you can use it to help/support the rear lower control arm (while cars safe/secure on jack stands) while you try to put the LCA bolt in...
IMO a floor jack and jack stands has more uses, and is also easier to use.. more bang for the buck, more uses, easier.. what more can u ask for..
w/ ramps.. the ONLY thing of the things I listed above you can do is (assuming you can get it on the ramps) lift up the front...
