set the crank to tdc and your cam as well, then put the belt back on. its very possible you annihlated your cylinder head though if the pistons came into contact with your valves.

Agreed How did you manage to not have your timing belt on? That's kind of hard to miss

bent valves or a hole through the piston...ouch hopefully you didn't do that kind of damage, but if you were cranking it a good while, prepare for the worst... Luckily that head is easy to work on/ replace etc...lol

Did you set the timing correctly? There is a fair chance that the motor is undamaged. Even with bent valves it will probably run if the timing is correct.
To summarize,
Step one: set timing correctly
Step two: compression test (~$20 at Autozone I would imagine)

you will see marks where the pistons came into contact with the valves. you can actually rent compression testers and all your money will be returned once you bring it back.

^^^true
autozone rents them out

just take out the spark plugs and put the comp. tester in and crank the motor some times wot

as long as its making some number it should start up

yes they are like 20bucks at autozone
or pay 40 for a decent one at sears

and ive had a single cam runing with bent valves in two cylinders so make sure the timing is right and give it a go.

you set the belt wrong theres not way you bent enough valves on all cylinders for it not to start. if you pull that motor and wanna sell it for cheap let me know. there is ALOT of room in these motors. ive seen dozens of broken belts with no bent valves on Dseries.
