car runs fine, but when you step on the gas it backfires and sputters. ignition and fuel are good!

any suggestions will help!

timing was off. 2 plugs had anti-freeze on them

it is throwing codes

8-TDC Sensor (Top Dead Center)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

9-CYP Sensor (Cylinder)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

21-VTEC Solenoid Valve
defective circuit or unplugged / defective solenoid valve

 

... O2 sensor? my car was running fine till i put a highflow cat that eliminates the O2 sensor and it starts to backfire... but then again, i also installed a 3" exhaust so that could be my problem too... but check with your sensors.

 

yea dont think that is it. have a feeling it is timing or maybe a bent valve. just thought i would throw it out there before i pulled the head!

 

do a compression or leak down test before disassembling a motor
