Default Stock fuel pump for H22 civic?

I have a H22 EG civic thats running the stock fuel pump from the original 1.5 (D15B2) engine. Will the car run like a sack of **** untill I swap the pump out? Im seeing a maximum of 35PSI on a fuel pressure guage I installed but the manual says it needs to be 45PSI. Ive been having some starting problems so am wondering if this can be overlooked or not? I have heard a walbro is a good move for this swap. Has anyone got away without running an upgraded pump?

Thanks in advance

I had a stock 1.5 DXI (EDM) pump for 3 years on my stock EGH22 with no problems.
