Default Vitara pistons/Stock d16 sleeves ??

Tried searching but couldnt find what im looking for.

Just trying to find how much WHP the Vitara pistons will hold, as well where do the d16 sleeves start to fail?

Looking to do a mid 400's whp SOHC build, needing to know if i should sleeve it and go w/ forged pistons?

pistons have been pushed to 600whp so you wont have a problem.. as for sleeves. with a good tune mid 400 will be ok. but IMO thats pushing it. For D series 400+ could use sleeves. Unless you're going to be running race gas. then 400 on stock sleeves is easy.

if you stay under 450whp, it will be ok. with a good tune and some kind of care while driving.

You can build a b for same price as you build a d. its called n LS motor and it will overpower a d easily. You can even cheap out and do rods with some of those nifty nipon lw compression pistons. people are pushing those pistons past 400whp with success. Basically same thing as the vitara idea. cast piston with lower compression and bigger ringlands

Buddy of mine had a rod and piston ls, jg edelbrok intake, turbonetics 60trim with a stage 3 exhaust wheel and only made 260whp @16psi. My little d-series makes 331whp @15. Granted ive got more done than rods and pistons but im still missing a cam.

yeah he definatly did something wrong and not to mention the jg intake manifold is nonsense for a LS engine unless going for hu8g power a blox is where its at for those engines. I personally make 300whp on 15 psi with an ebay turbo on an ls engine
