Default 96ek coupe

i got two question.

96 civic coupe.

if i run ctr pistons on a gsr block will i have clearance issues i need to know the fact. gsr block, i was going to do cams, valvetrains but im not shaving the head due to clearance. so i need to know if ill be okay to run these pistons.

second question is the block is obd1 and i know obd1 doesnt have crank sensor so how would this work on an obd2 car will the vehicle even turn over or only if i run a obd1 ecu?

your second question if you are using the wiring harness that the 96 came with from factory just get a obd2 to obd1 conversion harness and run your obd1

u can always bypass the crank sensor if your ecu is looking for it. its pretty easy. i did it on my 00 hatch. i have jdm itr motor in it and jdm motors dont have the crack sensor

im going to swap dizzy, injectors, and alternator to obd2 so why would i run an obd1 jumper harness?

can i run obd1 wiring and ecu into an obd2 shell? thanks

CTR pistons in a GSR is a bit scary to me. you will be looking at something in the 12.8-13:1 compression ratio, and thats not easy to run pump gas with. it also will create tighter clearences which bigger cams will only make tighter. you will need to do some research to figure out specs and what will work best for what your plans are with the car.

i helped with a swap on my friends 98.. your gonna need to get the conversion kit and run obd1 ecu. or you could just run like a jumper wire and bypass the crank sensor (which i dont reccomend) but it'll throw a CEL code. and then later on if you throw other codes your ecu could go into something known as "limp mode" which isnt gonna allow your engine to run until you fix the other problems that you're throwing codes. so what i would reccomend would be to go ahead and get the obd2 to obd1 conversion kit, they arent too expensive. that way you wont have a constant CEL light and you'll know when ur throwing other codes without any problems

just food for thought

i only know this bc when our buddy put the engine together he put the wrong cam gear in so the timing was off and the engine was leaking a little oil and there was a couple of other things going on that we were completely oblivious to bc we had bypassed the crank sensor instead of converting so we were already throwing a code and didnt know we were throwing others until the owner of the car was driving an hour away from home and went to limp mode and we had to tow it in. learn from our mistakes

ok does anyone know i got a jdm gsr i looked up the compression ratio and it is 10.8cr now i wanted to swap in 99=00civic si but i looked up the spec im looking at 10.2-10.4 cr. so if i do that im lowering the compression. also the gsr head has cams, and other valvetrain. so let me know if i can get away with the ctr pistons or not.. let me know guys.
