problem with crankshaft sensor-swap from obd2 to obd1
ok, i started a topic about a week ago about doing a swap from obd2 to obd1, where only the block is involved. everyone told me that nothing needs to be changed electrically but the ecu jumper and ecu. now that i am taking everything apart, the obd2 block has a crankshaft sensor and the obd1 block doesn't. i know that without it, the car will run like crap. is it safe to drill into the obd1 block to modify it or what else can be done?
I heard the obd1 cars have a crank fluctuation sensor built in to the distributor and that is why they have 2 plugs going to the dizzy. Is this correct?
if your using and obd-2 computer, then yes you will have to use that crank angle sensor.all you have to do is buy a obd oil pump and put it on your obd 1 block and your done.if i were you i would just go ahead and spend the money and get the jumper harness and be done with it.
good luck with your set up.
