Ok guys I have a b20b in my 89 si hatch. . . car is getting boosted this weekend. . I have the dsm black top injectors. . the car is converted from obd-0 to obd1 . . as far as I know im still using obd0 injectors though. . can anyone tell me what im going to need to do to install these ?
Thanks
Thanks
I believe the blacktop 450cc injectors are just injectors they used in the obd2 dsm's. I know they came after the bluetops. That part doesn't matter though.
You're going to have to wire up resistor boxes since I'm pretty sure the b20b is setup as high impedance injectors originally. These 450cc injectors are low impedance so by wiring up resistor boxes, you'll be able to use them. Also, you may need to notch out a tab in the dsm injector clip to get it to work and run pigtails. I'm not positive though.
Search "resistor boxes" in the forum and you'll find the diy on how to do them. This is what I got quickly off google.

yup. all you gotta do is notch the clips and put the injector in. obd0 honda's and some obd1 honda's had the resistor box already in the car from the factory. chances are, your's is still there. look on/ near the strut tower on the drivers side. should be a silver aluminum box with a green plug coming from it with 4 black wires, and one pink wires. good luck! it'll be nice to see another boosted local car around.
My 450cc install was easy on my accord. It's already got a resistor box from the factory and the clips matched up perfectly. BTW, I noticed they sell those "pigtails" for obd2 to obd1 conversions. My accord was obd2 but I used the blue tops which were obd1 dsm injectors without the pigtails and everything was fine. So when would you need those pigtails?
you have dsm injectors so the obd factor doesn't come into play. the clips are different between the obd1 and obd2 injectors. but, with dsm, i would assume that they are all the same reguardless of what year. but, don't quote me on that.
well if you dont have a resistor box that would be the problem. If you have a resistor box you still cant just put the injectors in and go you will have to get a tune.
Well I ran them in my old turbo accord without issues. I was just curious what the purpose of the clips were if I was able to run obd1 injectors (blue top 450cc's) on my obd2 car. I figured it out though.
its more of a difference of peak and hold vs saturated injectors. here, i found some info on injectors for you guys too.

sweet! i was just there today as a matter of fact. picked up a 97 coupe for dirt cheap and stopped in, but john wasn't there, and derek was doin a swap. great bunch of guys though. i've talked with them on several occasions, and they are some decent people thats for sure!
I always thought when you did the obd0-obd1 conversion you had to get rid of the resistor box?? My friend said he had to when he did his 90 Si Hatch.. but then he put one right back in it when he put his DSM Bluetops in his hatch... That confused me though..
you don't have to delete the resistor box. in fact, some cars came with them. my 94 accord was obd1, and it had a factory one. idk what cars came with them and what cars didn't though.
