New owner having problems, no spark
Hi,
We just bought a 91 CRX SI that's not getting any spark. We've tried:
-testing the p2 connection, it was getting power
-had the module tested, it was fine
-put in a brand new coil
-has a new rotor
-has a new distributor cap (according to the previous owner)
We used a circuit tester on the new coil and on the cap, it lights up on the positive and on the coil outlet, but not on the connectors for the spark plug wires on the cap.
We're at a loss as to what else the problem might be, if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

Thanks for responding. The fuel pump isn't making any sound when we checked it; also, no fuel is coming from the 12 mm bolt on the fuel filter when we removed it and tried to start the car. Could it maybe be the fuel relay, or would we just need to replace the whole pump?
Would this be the problem that is causing us to have no spark, or is likely that we have more than one problem here?

Check the main relay; that little bastard provides power to the ecu, fuel pump, injectors and etc. If it goes out, you won't have spark or fuel.

Replaced the main relay, and tested the 4P connector, it's getting power but still not starting. Soo....we're still at a loss here. Any other ideas??

i would say check your ecu, alternator sylenoid fuse, and main relay for some reason the alternator fuse causes a bitch load of problems you can sit and crank and crank and crank and it wont start just cuz that little fuse lol
We checked all the fuses, they seem to be fine, but we're going to recheck tomorrow. We also checked the ECU and we're getting a solid red light. As far as we can tell from looking at trouble code charts, this means we need a new ECU, but we wanted to see if it could mean anything else before we get a new one.
We were also wondering, in case we do need to replace the ECU, if it has to be an ECU from an 91 Si or if any CRX ECU will work.
Thanks so much for all your help!

Ok so we changed the ECU and she's still not getting any spark ha ha ha...I have to laugh so I don't cry. What else could be wrong? I don't want to give up on this bitch but I don't know what else we can replace....
the engine IS turning over? how are you checking your spark? are you using a spark plug tester? here are some diagrams. your crank position sensor might be an issue as it wont know to send the signal for the dizzy to spark.
here is the powertrain wiring diagram.

WE GOT HER RUNNING!!!!!! Thank you all so much for your help!!!
My boyfriend figured out that the last owner didn't plug all the wires on the distributor back in when he changed the clutch...thanks for all the help with the wiring diagrams, and the ECU info (the original is still good but now we have a functioning spare just in case.)
So now that she's running, we can get some major work done on her. We'll try to post some pics as soon as we figure out how :-P.
