Depending on how long the flywheel is in your car you should probably either replace it or have it resurfaced. A clutch install is a good time to change out the flywheel for a lighter one, IMO.

Good question. Don't cheap out on clutches.. I've used ACT and competition clutch kits.. both products are great IMHO.. also exedy. If you don't have the money for a lightweight flywheel now, just get your stock one resurfaced.. it would be perfectly fine.

thanks, yeah i've used ACT's stage II clutch and just resurfaced my flywheel because i'm on a budget, but if you're not going to be making more than 250HP than you're just fine with a sport clutch. it'll save you money and your leg if you're not used to it =P

I used a ACT HDSS set-up and it blew apart. It only lasted about 50-60k miles. My car is NA and only made between 170-185whp on the clutch. It appeared that only 3 out of the 6 damping springs actually where used during the life of the clutch.
My new clutch is an Action Clutch.
Just some food for thought.
Here's the link, about my clutch. Pictures included.

I'd recommend a cheaper clutch (Exedy OEM or possibly Stg. 1) and spending the extra cash to get a new ultralight Fidanza flywheel instead of to have yours resurfaced -- best performance/dollar ratio that way.

I don't understand the allure of racing clutches -- you'll see people with virtually no performance mods run racing clutches and they aren't getting any performance benefit from it.
