Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but extended studs are so you can fit wider wheels with more offset for slicks, and aren't necessarily stronger. Although I'm sure companies like ARP make stronger than stock studs.
are you asking how to do it, or if 5 lug conversion is cheaper than extended studs?
to convert to extended wheel studs all you do is
1. jack up car
2. remove wheels
3. remove wheel bearing retaining nut
3. remove brake caliper
4. remove brake rotor
5. use hub puller tool and slide hammer to remove hub
6. press out old studs
7. install new extended studs
8. put it all back together.
usually when you disassemble the hub you are supposed to replace the wheel bearing. if you use the slide hammer method rather than taking it to a shop to do this, you risk breaking your wheel bearing and having to replace it, but if you take it to a shop, they might break your wheel bearing too. if you do it yourself, it is much cheaper than a 5lug conversion. its not too hard, should take a couple hours. just did mine last week.

i dont see why u would consider 5 lug conv or extended studs? they arent really relevant to each other lol if ur gonna drag race get extendeds, if ur tryna style go 5 lug i guess
yeah idk why i was considering later on a project with a friend to do 5 lug but iono i thought it would be the same price range LOL? extended are they hard to install? *like i said before-articles/info DIY?
yeah, its a DA. you can use spacers to move the wheel away from the car more, but the proper way to get good fitment on a wheel is to do some research on offsets and wheel widths. it only took me about 3 hours total to do all 4 wheels. it was a prety basic thing. ive never removed a hub before and i was skeptical at first, but i got it all apart pretty easily. the extended studs cost about $85. i rented a hub puller from autozone for about $50 and it came with the slide hammer. so really the extended studs will run you about $85 and a couple hours of time. you get your money back when you return the hub puller, so that was free. much cheaper than 5 lug conversion. i cant find any of the articles i used, but do some searches on google and youtube and it should be more than enough info to do the job. nothin' to it, but to do it!
