hi, i have a 2000 civic ex. when i sit at a red light in nuetral its fine. but when i put it in 1st gear my car begins to shake. is there something wrong with my tranny? it only shakes in first gear btw

I have this same problem with my saturn at low rpm in 5th... I want to guess that the gear is going out. At first i thought it might be the clutch going bad, but then I figured it'd do it in every gear. Could also be something with the axles... Like I said though, I'm just guessing here.

 

yeah that sucks. my car only does it when im sitting still. when im moving of course i dont feel anything. and its only my first gear. i know the clutch is good. still grabs strong. axles arent ripped. oil level to specs. tranny fluid level to specs. no oil, coolant, vacuum leaks. perfect idle. its just when i place it in first to get ready to take off. tried it with foot on brake and off. still happenes. im confused

 

When exactly does it shake? When you're just sitting at idle, when you put it in gear but still have the clutch pressed, or when you go to take off?

 

it shakes when i am at idle, clutch pressed, in gear. it only shakes for about 5 secs max. then stops. and happens once in a while

 

Is your idle dropping when you press the clutch?

 

Check to see if any of your motor mounts are damaged/ripped.

 

but wouldn't it shake if i were in neutral too? and my idle does not drop. nothing else happens besides my car shaking
