HELP!!!!Transmission Problems.. Clutch? Pressure Plate???
i Have a 99 si with a mildly built ls/vtec with the b16 tranny ..and a couple weeks ago i was at a friends house and developed a slight grinding noise coming from the transmission while it was in gear so i left and got on the highway to head home and tried to down shift to 4th to go around somebody and it locked me out of all gears. the only way it would let me in is wen i turned the car off and put it in 1st... continued driving got off the highway and stopped at a light and again it wouldnt let me into any gears.... so i pushed the car into the gas station and let it sit turned the car back on put it in 1st while it was sitting and the grinding sound got louder.. i drove home the rest of the way home and i had to basically had to bang it in gear so i initially thought it was the throw out bearing. i got a new throw out bearing today and my friend dropped the tranny for me and put everything back together.... the clutch disc it perfectly fine still has alot of meat on it and the pressure plate is good too..... i took it around the block and still doing the same thing.. except this time it only does it above 3k RPM's its im casually driving its fine but if im just a little bit aggressive i have to force it into gear and the grinding occurs same when i downshift... and one other thing is sometimes i hear a loud popping sound when i push the clutch in.......is it possible the pilot bearing is gone???????
i have no idea and i really the car back so any information will be appriciated.....

Things I would do..
-Check clutch fluid level
-Check to make sure slave cylinder and master cylinder are working properly
-Check fluid level in transmission
-Look over clutch, pressure plate, flywheel while checking tranny for shaft play
-Then start guessing haha

the clutch fluid is good we went through that and the salve cylinder and the master cylinder are good... the tranny fluid it was good went it first happened and i refilled it wen we put everythin back together...
what should i be checking for exactly on the pressure plate and clutch and flywheel?????

A clutch that won't release may have a misadjusted linkage, a broken or stretched release cable, a leaky or defective slave or master clutch cylinder, air in the hydraulic line or cylinders, corroded, damaged or improperly lubricated input shaft splines, a worn pilot bearing/bushing, a worn bearing retainer, bent or worn release fork or pivot ball, bent clutch drive straps, bent or distorted clutch disc, a clutch disc that was installed backwards, or mismatched clutch components (if the clutch was just replaced).
Other things that can cause the clutch to drag or not release include heavy gear oil in the transmission that's too thick for cold weather, defective or worn clutch pedal bushings or brackets, or flexing in the firewall or any release component attachment point.''
That's the best info I can come up with to help you, from here I don't know.
^^ my money goes on that answer right there. if the problem isn't fixed by checking all of the things in that post, replace the clutch.
I recommend an exedy stage 1 organic clutch - you might as well get a lightweight (7.5lb) flywheel while you're at it because that would rule out the two main parts that would be damaged and causing you problems.

"If the clutch does not release completely when the clutch pedal is fully depressed, the disc will continue to turn the input shaft. This may prevent the driver from shifting the transmission from neutral into gear, cause grinding when the gears are changed, or cause the engine to stall when coming to a stop.

Damn bro good info imma go through all the steps and hopefully this weekend ill get everythin back to how its supposed to be...
Happened to me once (pretty similar) where one of my flywheel bolts had backed out. Mine would grind and randomly "lock me out" of gears. It eventually went away and I never knew what it was until I rebuilt the motor.
^^^^ hmmm see i didnt take the pressure plate or clutch off to inspect anythin... but imma take it to my mechanic that built the motor for me tomorrow he said he'll take a look at it and let me kno and this weekenfd transmission will be back out
dude is right, it could be a flywheel bolt. if it does back out a little bit this could explain your troubles. personally I think it's a failing clutch.
