I went to shift from 1st to 2nd and I heard a loud pop and the rpm's shot up. Pulled over in a parking lot and released the clutch with the tranny out of gear and heard a whirl,grinding noise which gradually went away when I press the clutch. It makes the same noise in all the gears and does not move. So the only time it stays quite is when I have the clutch pushed in. Now the week before this happened It was hard to shift into the gears until the afternoon when the temp. seemed warmer. Then it was not nearly as difficult to shift into gears. Also when I came to a stop while coasting , just before I came to a complete stop, the car seemed to bobble very lightly like the brakes were gently tapped twice, then nothing. Tore it all apart and found nothing majorly wrong with the clutch or the pressure plate. Only thing was both the flywheel and pressure plate was slightly recessed/worn from where the clutch disc grabbed. Running a ACT 4puck disc with a Heavy Duty pressure plate. Any ideas?????

 

exploded diff..........did you hear the side gears DROP into the tranny casing when you pulled the axles out?

Now see why I ran a stock clutch for so long.

 

Aggghhhh. That blows. Well I guess it's time for a newer better one.
