Default d series shift forks

are dx and si cable trannys shift forks interchangable? i have a couple si trannys with broken shift forks and a spare dx tranny wondering if i can just swap the forks?

They should be, they hydro trannys you can as long as you stay within the same years ('92 - '95 and '96 - '00) I don't see why the older cable trannys would be any different.

Thankfully, shift forks for D's are interchangeable within their model years.

88-91, 92-95, or 96-00 will always work in same generation of tranny.

I am a licenced tech and Ive had 26 Hondas. Ive worked on nothing but Hondas for approx 6 years. Ive built b-series trannies, and everything from high comp b-series engines to mini-me's. I currently have a Genuine EF9 Civic which I assisted in importing last year. I have never been able to get a d-series case to bolt back together without jamming the input shaft solid. Ive tried on multiple d-series transmissions using different techniques and parts and have even had the assistance of two Certified Honda Technicians at one point. These are throw away transmissions-dont waste your time, I spent over 10 hours on one d-series transmission in a professional shop, fully equipped with all required tools trying to put the case back together without jamming the input shaft, unsuccessfully.

Please don't ever touch a trans again, tell the 2 tech's the same thing. Mainshaft doesn't have to be touched to get the case together.

You're doing it wrong. I've rebuilt D-series trannys without proper tools available and they're still pretty simple to put together.

X2 D series is the easiest to me. Hardest part of the hole thing is getting the retaining clip around the bearing then the case will almost fall apart. LOL Same for putting it back together, hardest part is the clip.

That goes to show you just because you have a patch (ASE) on your shoulder, you do not know everything

I agree. I think I have even put 92-95ex shift forks in a 88-91 si tranny. They are steel not aluminm.

1-2 maybe, but 3-4 do not interchange between 88-91 and 92-95.....
