Default EGR question

so i go to advance and get em to pull the codes on my 98 accord (engines a 99) and one thing that's wrong is insufficient egr flow. i say about a week later i go back to advance and get a new egr and put it on the car. simple enough ya know, as far as i'm concerned problem solved. well i go back to advance again today and get the nice people there to pull my codes and once again insufficient egr flow still comes up. well i told the guy i replaced the egr valve about to 2-3 weeks ago when it came up the first time and i asked if maybe the computer just hadn't caught it yet. the advance guy told me that if it's been that long it should have already been erased. so now i'm wondering, why this could be happening. could it be i need to clean my egr ports or what? any help would be much appreciated. thanks, zack.

Has the ECM been reset since the EGR was replaced??
If not I would be leaning towards the EGR ports being blocked, and that you most likely shelled out for a new EGR Valve for no real reason.

i had the codes reset when i put the new egr valve on. so that's why i was concerned when it came back up today. and its a 4 cylinder redull-1. i was looking under the FAQ and the only right ups for cleaning the ports are for 94-97 with the exception of the v6 model for the 98-02. so is cleaning them out pretty much similar to doing so on the f22b models?

thanks for all the input, im gonna take a look at everything in the morning. and speaking of vacuum hoses there is actually one under the hood that is not connected to anything. its just a tube sticking up and i have yet to figure out where it goes (mostly just my lack of free time due to a busy work schedule). i've asked several people what they thought it went to and they all came up with no answers. i guess a picture would probably help more in this situation though.

i think he's talking about the V6 EGR service. that's not a part of the four cylinder job.

so just another thing to add to my thread, once again i was talking to the guy at advance and told me an easy to clean my EGR ports would be to pour something like seafoam through the main vaccum line and it should clean out the ports. so i figured i'd ask here first, will that blow my engine up essintially?

It will not blow it up, nor will it clean your EGR ports, he's just rying to sell a bottle of seafoam
