Default Stick Shift Vibration

I was driving a Manual 99 Civic today and I noticed that the shifter vibrates as I drive. Is this normal on a civic? Or is this a possible problem?

Some vibration is normal, it's connected to the transmission, and it tends to vibrate a little. Erratic, like wild shaking all over...then maybe it's a problem.

it's called a rod shifter linkage. welcome to honda's (except for the cursed k series).

jack your car up, throw it on jack stands, get under there and have someone move the shifter around. you will see a bar just above the exhaust system that goes directly the tranny.

bottom line, the shifter is directly connected to the engine and the engine vibrates.

A new set of bushings for your shift linkage should make it a little better.

Definitely spring for some Energy Suspension bushings. They make shifting a heck of a lot more precise. I actually notices a little more vibration while my hand was on the shifter, but the shifter stayed still more with my hand off it. There's less play and the bushings are firmer...

Heres some ES bushings for a 99 Civic(Non-Si). Can get them in Blk/Red. $8.99 plus S/H. Even if it don't cut down to much on vibration if it will make the gear shifter feel more precise and consistent like Thumper said then IMO its worth it for sure.
